Fashion Tip of the Month

What’s In This Spring?

*

The spring season officially started March 20th, so make sure your clothing reflects the change of seasons by embracing some of these new trends.

*

1.  Whimsical Patterns – spring wouldn’t be spring without the celebration of nature, from  bird prints to deers, fruit and feathers on all articles of clothing will put a playful and trendy spin on your everyday outfit.

*

2.  Cheerful Color Blocking – mixing large chunks of bright color is a new way to wear solids in an interesting way.  One way to wear color blocking is to buy a clothing item that is already printed or sewn into color blocks, another way is to take three colors and wear them together.  For example, you could wear bright blue skinny jeans, light yellow tank and a grass green blazer.

*

3.  Lace – covering purses and detailing on scarves; the natural appeal of lace makes garments adorable with a touch of vintage.

*

4. Spring Colors a simple way to update your wardrobe is by adding a few warm-weather pieces in the colors below:

  • Oranges & Tangerines – the most popular spring color, bright and bold

  • Classic Pastels – sky blue, light pink, buttery yellow, mint and peach

  • Neons – bright colors, such as, lime green, turquoise, ruby red and canary yellow

  • Black on Yellow – to avoid looking like a giant bumble bee try the 20-80 rule, wear 20% of one color and 80% of the other

*

5. Peplum Silhouette – a short, flared ruffle that sits at your natural waist on tops, skirts and dresses creates a feminine touch.

*

6. Colored Denim – yellow, red, green and cobalt blue saturate the skinny crop jean and the slightly more figure-flattering straight-leg cuts.  Finish these bright pants off with a metallic thick-soled wedge sandal.

*

7. Polka Dots – black on white will be one of the most popular combos, as well as, pastel and jewel tones.  When wearing polka dots keep in mind your height; if you have a small frame stick with small polka dots.  If you are tall, you can easily pull off both small and big prints.

*

8. Stripes – colorful stripes in a variety of shades and widths.  Dark green and royal blue stripes can be found on tops, dresses and handbags.

*

9. Futuristic Prints – choose from oversize florals, colorful swirling graphics and mirror-like geometric prints to add an edge to your look.

*

The way to look great in these trends is to work with your body type, incorporate some of your basic pieces, and always stay true to your own personal sense of style.
