 A few "Shear Moments"...

 Little Demi Shortcakes

A client of mine of many years comes into the salon with her adorable 4 year old little girl, Demi. The fiery red headed girl who has tones of energy and a spirit that will lights up a room wherever she is.

My client, her mom, is a high strung person with very little patience and would like to get her hair done with peace. Well this little spit fire cannot sit still running around the salon, looking, touching, and asking a million questions. The client, who has no tolerance this day for her energetic adorable daughter tells her to knock it off and sit down. Needless to say she could not just sit still, so she went on exploring.

My client, frustrated because she wanted to relax but was too worried about her daughter getting into something says… “That girl, drives me crazy!”  No sooner did those words come out of her mouth, you hear this little red head come storming in, hands on her hips, pointing her little finger at me and said..” Did she just say that I drive her crazy?  Well let me tell you something Kathy,  She drives me crazy!” My client stopped being frustrated and we both had the greatest laugh!

I love kids!

 The smile was priceless!

There are times behind the chair that make you realize what your life purpose is.  Moments like these are the heart and soul of what you do.  Just last week I had a woman who just grew her hair back from 18 months of breast cancer treatments.  She came in with her daughter and was hesitant about getting her newly grown, grey hair colored.  The 3 of us consulted together to create a new look that was going to be comfortable.  This was her first hair coloring experience EVER and she trusted me to choose the right color that would compliment her features.  We chose a soft auburn-brown that matched the iris in her eyes; we then designed a haircut for her and taught her how to style her new look. When we were finished, she looked in the mirror, had this great big smile, and said ‘THANK YOU SO MUCH, I feel like a whole new person!  Her daughter was so excited she couldn’t wait to bring her home to show her dad and told her mother that she was going to wake up early the next morning to do her make up for her because she wanted her to look and feel magnificent in her new doo! …  Just Think..  This is what we do for a living.
